Jersey Maritime Museum 2014, 2019, 2021

Freelance commissions. The latest work in 2019 consisted of a series of 3 cut-out and collage style animations, shown in the museum, bringing to life folk tales and legends of Jersey. In conjunction with Andy Hazell. New project planned for 2021 that will be showcased in an exhibition there later in the year. The 2014 commission was a series of animations depicting life at sea during the Days of Sail, which were displayed on small screens embedded into a 3.4 metre diameter globe sculpture.

 

Cambridge Creative Encounters 2020/ 21

Commissioned to collaborate with a Cambridge University graduate researcher to create a 3 minute film to showcase their research. I worked with Alicja Dubrowska PhD and her company Waterscope to plan and structure a short animation, highlighting new technology developed by them for water testing in developing countries. I then made the animation including all design, compositing and sound. The film is to be screened March 2021 alongside other collaborations, all supported by Cambridge Creative Encounters, part of the Cambridge Festival. On the back of this I have been invited to run online animation workshops with other Cambridge researchers, as part of the 2021 Cambridge University public engagement programme.

 

The Fantasy Orchestra Summer 2020 – present

Video editing for the orchestra during a year of lockdown. I was part of a team that created music videos to accompany covers of songs by the likes of Ennio Morricone and David Bowie. The home recordings of 40+ musicians and singers were edited into a cohesive whole and viewable on the FO Youtube channel.

 

Nexus Productions, Shoreditch, London November 2013 – 17

Freelance animation work on an ongoing basis. Projects included: – PNC online bank commercial, March 2017 (US client) – 2D and 3D animation and compositing work, some modelling and projection mapping, mainly in Adobe After Effects —– 2D pixel art design and 2D pixel animation for Disney online childrens animation series ‘Invade all of the Human’ aired 2016 —– Storyboard colour artist for various clients

 

Madadam Films, for The School of Life February 2016

Creation of a five minute -long animation, on the subject of Freud and sublimation. For the online channel of Alain de Botton’s School of Life. All aspects covered including all visual content ideas, design, direction, animation and delivery of completed video, to accompanying voice-over.

 

Beeby for Puma, Converse and Alaia January – March 2015

2D Animation and stop motion animation for Puma and Converse online material.  Storyboarding and concept design for the new Alaia fragrance.

 

M&C Saatchi September 2013 – May 2014

Animation and video compositing for online instructional videos, on a freelance basis. Clients: Natwest and RBS. Work done mainly in Adobe After Effects with hand-cut stop-motion elements.

 

Animation workshops April 2010 – ongoing

Animation workshop organiser and facilitator at various youth groups and creative arts companies, including Rolling Sound, Heart n Soul at the Albany in Deptford, and at the Phoenix Cinema in East Finchley.

 

Heads Bodies Legs June – August 2013

Animation made for this independant theatre company for their live performance of the same name, which ran for 3 weeks in August 2013 at the Camden People’s Theatre in Euston. The 2D handdrawn animations were designed to enhance the already existing set and story, and to interact with the characters on stage. I also operated the animation cues live, every night for 3 weeks.

 

Arts Council  January 2008 – July 2009

Arts Council individual video artist grant received to make a 4-minute long animation, utilizing stop-frame techniques and drawing on real-life bodies. Shot on 35mm stills film and the negatives then scanned in and edited.

 

Improbable Feb – March 2009; and Nov 2007 – Jan 2008

Prop making and puppet making for this theatre company on their show “Panic”. The show incorporated a set made of brown paper, digital projection, animal shadow puppets and an aerial artist. The three-month-long tour of the show commenced March 09 in Ohio, USA, and continued in Liverpool, Leeds and London Barbican.

 

Joonisfilm February – May 2006 

Self- initiated work placement as background artist for three months with this animation studio in Tallinn, Estonia.
